Part-Time Therapist & Coach Position

Black Executive Men is a high performance mental health and executive coaching company that supports Black men in corporate America.

Our Goal

We are seeking mission driven licensed mental health professionals and coaches to provide 1-on-1 psychotherapy and coaching sessions for our accomplished clients.

We have researched small and large therapist directories from across the United States in order to find therapists and coaches who may be a good fit for these roles.

We are not taking calls right now to discuss the position. However, you are welcome to e-mail us with questions at: admin@blackexecutivemen.com.

Our Expectations

This is a part-time position for licensed mental health professionals and trained coaches only. Mental health interns will not be offered an interview at this time and should not apply for the therapist role.

There is a minimum of 5 sessions per week that therapists or coaches need to lead. The maximum is 20. Session times are established based on your and your clients’ availabilities. Thus, there is a lot of flexibility for your schedule.

This role requires therapists and coaches to be familiar with the corporate world and able to both understand and speak the language of corporate America. If you are against corporate America, this role is not for you. Do not apply.

We are a high performance coaching and mental health company for some of the most accomplished Black men in the world. While we have flexibility on approach and style, we have zero flexibility on missed sessions. If a hired therapist or coach misses 1 session with a client without advanced notice, they will be fired from working with us. In addition, if they are reported to be late more than 3 times with their clients, they will be fired. We are absolutely serious about this agreement.

Our Flexibility

There is no problem or conflict if you have your own therapy or coaching practice. In fact, we hope that if you have a private practice, that it grows and flourishes during your time with BEM. However, any client that comes to you through BEM, you will not be able to see that client in your private practice for up to two years after you terminate with Black Executive Men. If you decide to go against this policy, and we find out, then you will be fired immediately.

Our Approach

We do not hire robots. We want therapists and coaches who have their own style. However there are four mandatory approaches that we use at BEM. You will have to use them as well. This will be detailed in the curriculum section.

Our Strategy

We are driving forward with the McDonalds-ificacion of therapy and coaching for Black men in corporate America. Through 1-on-1 and group programs, we present culturally qualified therapists and coaches with our accomplished clientele for dramatic results.

Our Curriculum

Four components must be included in every BEM therapy or coaching session. The rest of the session is open to the therapist and coach for their own style to shine through. These include quick start, recap, emotional literacy, and wrap up.

  1. Quick start. Get started immediately. Within 5-30 seconds of starting a session, the therapist or coach is to ask the client if they are ready to get started. We are serious about getting started and don’t encourage robust chit-chat or sharing more than is necessary about your personal life, unless therapeutically driven.

  2. Recap. Show them you are listening. Immediately share a recap of the top 2-4 concepts from the previous session out-loud with the client. Mother issues, relationship problems, promotion concerns, victories and wins. Share the top issues from the previous session to ensure they felt seen, heard, and understood from the beginning of the session.

  3. Emotional literacy. Emotions are the gateway to transformation. Many clients discuss their thoughts and actions. This is good, but it fails to address emotions. Use the Non-Violent Communication (NVC) Feelings Inventory with clients to help them quickly increase their emotional literacy and clarity about how they truly feel inside about a topic.

  4. Wrap up. At the end of the session, process their insights and takeaways. To gather the insights and takeaways from your sessions, be sure to ask them about any insights and takeaways they have at the end of their session. Take 2-3 minutes for this closing section, every time.
