Black Executive Men Community

Our Philosophy

Friendship first. Business second. The gentlemen’s way.

At the heart of our approach lies a profound yet practical wisdom: meaningful relationships precede successful transactions. For Black male professionals navigating corporate environments, establishing authentic connections creates a foundation of trust and mutual respect that naturally enhances both personal fulfillment and professional achievement. When we prioritize genuine friendship—where we can share challenges, celebrate victories, and support one another's growth—business opportunities emerge organically, strengthened by a community invested in collective success. This balance honors both our professional ambitions and our humanity, recognizing that relationships aren't merely instrumental but essential to our wellbeing and advancement. This is the gentlemen's way: building a legacy of excellence through connections that matter, understanding that how we succeed together is as important as what we achieve.

Our Vision

We have a bold vision: to unite 100,000 corporate black men for authentic friendships. With over 900 current members across 40+ regional groups spanning North America, Asia, South America, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, we are building a powerful global network that provides worldwide support. Together, we amplify the voices of corporate Black men and create a lasting legacy of impact and influence.

Our Approach

BEM creates a distinctive professional community where Black male mid-level corporate professionals and senior executives can forge meaningful connections and strategic partnerships. Our network is purposefully designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities facing established Black men in corporate environments.

While our community welcomes professionals at various stages, our core programming and networking opportunities are tailored to the needs of Black men navigating career advancement, leadership transitions, and executive development. Mid-level professionals gain access to executive mentorship and specialized resources whether they're on technical, operational, or management tracks. Senior leaders cultivate peer relationships that drive business impact and create legacy opportunities.

By connecting experienced Black male corporate talent across industries and geographies, we're building a powerful ecosystem that amplifies influence, drives change, and creates pathways for the next generation of Black male leadership.

For Black Men Navigating the Corporate world

Brother, let us speak directly to you.

We know what it's like walking into those conference rooms where you're the only one. Where you calculate every word, measure every reaction, and carry the weight of representation on your shoulders. For decades, we've been told there's only one way to make it: work twice as hard, keep your head down, and figure it out on your own.

That narrative stops with us.

Since the 1960s, trailblazers like Clifton Wharton Jr., Harvey Russell, and Joseph Searles III carved paths through corporate America with practically no roadmap. They faced closed doors, silent dismissals, and the exhausting pressure of being "the first" or "the only." Many succeeded, but at what cost?

Too many of us have stories about being pitted against the only other Black man in the department. About watching opportunities go to less qualified colleagues. About swallowing our authentic selves to fit a mold never made for us.

We’re not here to tell you those challenges don't exist anymore. But we are here to tell you that you don't have to face them alone.

BEM exists because the old model—the isolated achiever, the exceptional individual who "made it" despite the odds—simply isn't enough. We deserve more than exceptional individuals. We deserve exceptional communities.

When you join BEM, you're not just accessing a network. You're joining a community of men who understand exactly what you're navigating:

  • Men who've sat through those meetings where your ideas were ignored until a another colleague repeated them

  • Men who've mastered the balance between authenticity and professional advancement

  • Men who are committed to lifting as they climb

This isn't just about advancing your career, though doors will open. It's about thriving as a complete man—finding authentic friendships, meaningful mentorship, and the peace that comes from not having to navigate these spaces alone.

The pioneers of the 60s, 70s, and 80s had to figure it out themselves. They had no choice. We honor their sacrifices by building something better—a community where competition gives way to collaboration, where isolation transforms into brotherhood.

The corporate world wasn't built for us. But together, we're not just surviving in it—we're transforming it, defining success on our own terms, and creating pathways for the brothers coming after us.

You've made it this far largely on your own, possibly to the top. Imagine how much further we can go together.

Join us at BEM. Because you deserve more than just a seat at the table. You deserve a community that has your back through every stage of success.

Our Values

Authentic Friendship

As Black men navigating the corporate world, we often face unique challenges of underrepresentation, isolation, and misunderstanding. Authentic friendships provide a foundation where we can be our true selves without code-switching or filtering our experiences. These genuine connections create a space where we're understood, valued, and respected for who we are, not just what we achieve.

Meaningful Connection

Our community fosters connections that go beyond superficial networking. We build relationships where members can openly share struggles, celebrate victories, and discuss challenges specific to Black men in corporate environments. These meaningful connections strengthen our emotional resilience, helping us navigate workplace stressors while maintaining our mental wellbeing and cultural identity.

Mutual Support

We believe in collective advancement through active support. Our members share resources, opportunities, and wisdom that help each other overcome obstacles and achieve new heights. From entry-level professionals to C-suite executives, we create pathways for shared success across all career stages. When one of us succeeds, we all benefit through expanded access, representation, and influence.

Our Founder

Jewel Love founded Black Executive Men (BEM) in 2015 in Oakland, California, after years of working as a licensed psychotherapist specializing in helping corporate Black men heal from mental health struggles. His experience guiding thousands of clients toward success in leadership, entrepreneurship, and more led him to develop key strategies for Black men’s career advancement.

What began as a psychotherapy practice charging $40 per hour evolved into a premier executive coaching business, now charging $50,000 for one-on-one coaching. Jewel has become a sought-after thought leader and executive coach, with 26,000 LinkedIn followers, a 1,000-member community, and a goal of reaching 100,000 members by 2040.

Jewel hosts the weekly Black Executive Men Podcast, publishes a newsletter, and is writing his book, Born Driven: The Executive Blueprint for Black Men in Corporate America. He has also co-founded a private equity firm, launched a recruiting firm, and created a C-level accelerator and a mastermind program for Black male executives.

Born to a Black-American father and Scottish-Canadian mother, Jewel moved to Mexico with his family and is dedicated to leaving a legacy that uplifts future generations.

Why BEM Exists

1. Breaking Isolation

In corporate spaces, Black men are often the only ones in the room. BEM provides a community where you’re no longer navigating these spaces alone. Instead, you’re surrounded by people who get it—men who share your experiences and want to see you succeed.

2. From Lone Wolf to Community

For many of us, success has been about grinding alone and figuring it out on our own. BEM is about changing that. We believe we’re stronger together. When we build trust and support each other, amazing things happen:

  • Jobs flow.

  • Partnerships grow.

  • Opportunities open up.

3. Creating a Ripple Effect

BEM isn’t just about individual success. It’s about creating a ripple effect—breaking barriers today so that future generations of Black men have a clear path to leadership and influence.

4. Helping You Thrive in All Areas

The BEM Community is here to help you succeed professionally, but we also focus on the bigger picture. Whether it’s building authentic friendships, learning new skills, or creating balance in your life, BEM is about helping you thrive.

In a nuteshel: BEM exists to empower Black men in corporate spaces, addressing the unique challenges we face, from systemic inequities to underrepresentation at the executive level. By providing mentorship, leadership training, and a supportive community, BEM helps us navigate corporate environments, break through barriers, and thrive in our careers. It’s about building resilience, offering culturally relevant guidance, and creating networks that foster success—ultimately helping us rise to the highest levels in business and create lasting change.

What Our Members Say

As an engineer, I’m used to solving problems, but I’ve often felt like I was figuring out my career alone. BEM changed that. It’s been amazing to meet other Black men who get what it’s like to navigate corporate spaces. The Fireside Chats and 1:1 connections have been huge for helping me see what’s possible and giving me a roadmap to get there. Honestly, I wish I’d joined sooner."
Jordan M., Systems Engineer, Aerospace Industry

Being in tech sales, I know how important connections are, but I’d never found a space like this before. BEM gave me a place where I could actually talk about my goals with people who understand the challenges I face. The quarterly socials are legit—great vibes and real conversations—and the insights I’ve picked up have already made a difference in how I approach my career.
Marcus W., Tech Sales Executive, Technology Sector

"I joined BEM thinking it would just be a professional group, but it’s been so much more. The guys here really care about helping each other out, and that’s rare to find. I’ve gotten advice that’s helped me grow as a leader and built friendships that keep me inspired. It’s been a huge confidence boost to know I’m not out here doing this alone."
Ken J., Energy Manager, Energy Sector

I’ve been part of a lot of professional networks, but BEM is different. It’s not just about business—it’s about real connections. The Fireside Chats and networking sessions are great, but what keeps me coming back is the sense of community. For the first time, I feel like I’m in a space where I can be myself and still learn how to get to that next level."
Darius W., Senior Vice President, Financial Services

As a consultant, I spend so much time focusing on other people’s businesses that I hadn’t really invested in my own career growth. BEM has been a game-changer for me. The conversations, the events, the people—it’s all helped me figure out how to level up. It’s not just about networking here; it’s about being part of a group that really wants you to succeed.
— Michael T., Consultant, Management Consulting
